As professional actors, we often audition and work on projects that don't
necessarily challenge the full spectrum of our talents. You may be comfortable
with industrials, commercials, and voice-over but fall apart when you audition
for a film. With the increase of film and television coming to Georgia, now more
than ever, Atlanta talent needs to be ready for Hollywood auditions.

In this Intensive, using the "Haber Audition Technique", actors work with film
and television scripts, learning how to nail the audition in a limited amount of
time. The focus is on the nuts and bolts of breaking down a scene, including
relationship, intention, history, opening and closing beats, core and masking.
Using the skills you learn will greatly improve your audition skills. This
valuable cold-reading technique works.

yourACT Atlanta is affiliated with the prestigious Margie Haber Acting Studios,
located in Los Angeles. A renowned acting coach and author of the book How To
Get The Part Without Falling Apart, Margie Haber does seminars and workshops
worldwide and has worked with some of Hollywood's top actors including Halle
Berry, Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn, Tea Leoni, Heather Locklear, John Corbett ("Sex
In The City", "Northern Exposure") and Sophia Bush ("One Tree Hill"), among many
others.

We are proud and honored that Margie has chosen yourACT Atlanta as the only
studio outside of L.A. to offer her approach to auditioning for film &
television. Della and Bob trained with Margie and her elite group of
instructors at the Haber Studios in LA in order to teach the famous "Haber
Audition Technique."

"A big thanks to yourACT for offering this great class! I would recommend it
highly to anyone serious about making big improvements to their auditioning
technique. After taking eight classes, I feel much more confident in my
understanding of scene breakdown theory, and [I have] an increased appreciation
of the importance of identifying and exploring relationships and character
history—all in 15 minutes or less! Thanks, Della." —Wes Bailey

"I loved the Margie Haber class! It's amazing the progress each actor made in
only four weeks. I look forward to my next film audition because my approach has
completely changed!" —Greer Howard

VOICE-OVER "COPY GRASP" WORKSHOP

with Voice-Over AGENT SALLY NEAL of Houghton Talent

Sally Neal, voiceover agent of Houghton Talent has this to say: "A voice is just a voice until you add personality and a true understanding of what you are saying and why...  It's the reason producers will choose one voice over another."

Break down the copy you are given. Look at it from the producer's and writer's point of view. Figure out who the target audience is. Determine why your style/voice has been asked to audition the copy. Then deliver the script in the most effective way to promote interest in the product. If you do it, you will book the jobs!

Come and learn this important information!

ONE DAY ONLY, 1-3pm, Saturday, February 11 -  Only $99!

Limited to 15 (or time will be extended)

BALANCE

Balance. I'm convinced that most people don't realize how important it is to the overall quality of their lives. Without balance in all four areas of your life (physical, social, professional and spiritual) it's just impossible to live life to its fullest.

Let me explain how balance relates to every aspect of your life.

Being human means you are composed of many bodies, integral yet separate. You can readily understand you have a physical body, but there's more. Think of your mind, your physical body, your emotions, and your spiritual self as separate bodies - or parts
- of you. These parts comprise the total you. All these parts have different needs.

Balance is another name for harmony. Without harmony you are fighting within yourself. If you are out of balance, you cannot grow as you could when every part of you is unified and nurtured.
It is like the saying, "a house divided against itself cannot stand." When you know the requirements of each part, you can furnish exactly what each needs to heal and grow while staying unified. With this unification, tremendous joy, strength, and a new quality of depth will develop in your life.

You are the most effective and can achieve the most in your life when all parts of you are happy and healthy. If you decide not to take care of yourself as a whole, you live with the consequences of being less than you could be.

Actions That Create Balance

Each of your bodies affects the other parts of yourself, your outlook on life, and the actions you take. If one part of your life overshadows another, imbalance occurs. If you work all the time and don't take time to rest or play, you eventually become unbalanced. This lessens your effectiveness as a person.

To drive home this point, I want to share with you the realizations of Dr. Cindi.

Dr. Cindi came to me at her wits' end. She was feeling out of control and exhausted. At her first session she told me she had barely eked out the hour to see me.

During our first session, I found out she never gave her any free time or did anything to nurture herself. She gave all her time and energy to her patients, husband, and children. She was a typical dysfunctional nurturer, accepting all the responsibility of her business and home life, leaving no time for her. Dr. Cindi wanted peace of mind badly, and she was willing to embrace new concepts. I explained to her about balance and self-love. I told her when she took time out to recharge and have fun her whole life would prosper. I emphasized the need for healthy boundaries and releasing the responsibility for other adults. I then put her through the hypnosis process to bring these new concepts deeper into her subconscious.

She came back the next week beaming! During the space of a week, she set boundaries with her teenage son and husband and scheduled two half-days off to have fun. She felt like a new woman. Before, she couldn't even see how she was going to come for an hour's session; now, because her conscious and subconscious beliefs were coming into harmony, she was aware she could change anything in her life.

Week after week, her life continued to improve. Her business increased as well as her time off. Her family relationships got even better, and she noticed how her energy affected everyone in her life. When she felt balanced and nurtured, she could see more patients and have a deeper, more satisfying family life.
She realized her energy affected everything in her life, and when she was out of balance, so was the rest of her life. Before she was a victim; now she is on the road to mastery!

Balance occurs and is created in the moment. There are times when it is right and balanced to work more, and there are times when it is perfect to play more. I always ask myself this question to discover what I need for balance and harmony in my own life: "What do I need at this moment to create value in my life now?"

That question helps me zero in on what I need for balance and harmony. Value to me means allowing me to be all I can be in every category of my life.

I am amazed when people say they don't know what they need or want in life. If you really don't know, act as if you do.
Eventually, you will allow yourself to know. As Soul, your highest self, you always know the answers. These answers go beyond logic and reason to pure understanding.

Let yourself have what you need. You probably have been taught to deny your needs but by allowing yourself permission to have what you need you create your life to your fullest potential!
Remember, you are the only one that can give yourself balance.
Start today and create the balance that you need!

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone.

Change your beliefs and change your life!

11 Better Questions To Ask Than “What Do You Do?”

by TODD SCHNICK on JANUARY 26, 2012

I think one of the problems is that we all attempt to, or allow ourselves to be, defined by our work. We think we have to stay in miserable, unhappy jobs just because it is a status thing, or that we think this is what society expects.
I say bunk. No doubt, it is a lot harder (for me at least) to run my own business and have to eat what I kill. Sure, bills would be easier to pay with a regular paycheck, but I hated life like that. I love being on my own, responsible to myself, and flexible to do work that matters to me. It is a tough slog, but I love the battle.
But I think we are responsible for this predicament. What is the first thing we usually ask someone we meet for the first time?
“So…what do you do?”
Does asking this question subconsciously tell people that we expect an answer to be some formal, society-approved job? Maybe so.
So, here is what I propose. Instead of leading off with the standard “what do you do?” question, from now on, let’s start with these:
What do you love to do?
What are you reading?
What do you want to learn?
Tell me about your family?
What do you want to be known for?
What big, hairy challenge are you striving to achieve?
If you wrote the great American novel, what would it be about?
Would you rather be a writer, artist, or musician?
Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?
What would you do if you were president for a day?
What’s the biggest mistake you’ve ever made?
I don’t know about you, but I personally find the answers to these questions to be a lot more meaningful, and a lot more telling about a person than how they spend nine to five.
What do you think? What other questions would you want to ask?
